The 3rd Meeting on the 2nd International Advisory Board of Management and Economics of Tianjin University

  On October 16, the 3rd meeting on the 2nd International Advisory Board of Management and Economics (IABME) of Tianjin University was held as scheduled. Participant experts and scholars of the meeting were, Jian-zhou Wang, Chairman of the IABME in 2019, Chairman of China Association for Public Companies, and former Chairman of China Mobile; Daniel Berg, member of the US National Academy of Engineering, outstanding professor of Engineering College of University of Miami; Robert Dixon, professor of Durham University; Tariq S. Durrani, Vice President of the Royal Society of Scotland, member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, IEEE and IET; Jack Perkowski, CEO of Green 4U Technologies, founder and executive partner of Jack Holdings Limited; Shu-xin Wang, member of CPC Tianjin University Standing Committee, Vice President of TJU. Members from CoME, TJU who attended the meeting with TJU leader were including CPC Party Chief of CoME Shou-feng Ma; Dean Bao-feng Huo; Vice Dean Hui-min Wang, Bao-chen Yang, Zhao-fang Mao, Xiong Xiong, Hui-bin Du, and Nan Feng; Deputy CPC Party Chief of CoME, Ting Yuan and Geng Li. Moreover, Hai-yan Ma, Section Chief of the Section of Program Administration, Office of International Cooperation of TJU, also attended the meeting.

  During the meeting, Shu-xin Wang welcomed them to Tianjin University. He mentioned that Tianjin University, formerly known as Peiyang University, was the first modern university in China. He also briefed IABME members on the development of Tianjin University in recent years, expressing that Tianjin University would further serve the strategic needs of the country, improve the layout of comprehensive subjects and accelerate the pace of building a world-class university.

  Chairman in 2019, Jian-zhou Wang, on behalf of IABME, affirmed the development of the college, and provided some targeted and strategic suggestions and guidance for the long-term development of management and economics in Tianjin University.

  Then, Bao-feng Huo reported the work of the college in the past year, from the aspects of talent cultivation, faculty, discipline construction and Reshaping Business Education construction, introduced the measures taken in the past year, and looked forward to the future development direction of the college. The IABME members affirmed the work in the past year and made specific suggestions on the construction of faculty, training of postgraduates, recruitment of high-level talents, and foreign cooperation and exchanges. Finally, members also discussed the format of the next IABME and how to effectively play its important role in strategic guidance, resource integration and development direction.

  Background of International Advisory Board

  Under the background of the rapid development of global science and technology, the drastic change of international political and economic pattern, and the new era of China's social economy, management education is in a critical period of transformation and reformation. How to cultivate high-quality global outstanding business leaders and elites has become a common topic concerning the development of business schools in various countries. Therefore, the International Advisory Board of Management and Economics of Tianjin University was established in 2014.

  IABME is a high-caliber consulting institution, composed of world class business and political leaders, scholars in management and economics, and other social elites. Its tenet is to provide strategic reviews and outreach toward resources for the long-term development of management and economics disciplines at TJU. It also serves as a bridge for the communication between CoME, academics and industry around the world. Since the establishment of IABME in 2014, CoME appointed two session members in succession.

  The 2nd IABME consists of 16 members from politics, industry and academia. They are, Rong-rong Li, Vice President of China Center for International Economic Exchange, former Director of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Honorary Director of CoME of TJU, Chairman of the First International Advisory Committee on Management and Economics; Daniel Berg, member of the US National Academy of Engineering, outstanding professor of Engineering College of University of Miami; Robert Dixon, professor of Durham University; Tariq S. Durrani, Vice President of the Royal Society of Scotland, member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, IEEE and IET; Chris Earley, Dean of Business School of University of Technology Sydney, former Dean of Management School of Purdue University; Jim O'Neill, CEO of JFP Holdings ; Sung Hyun Park, Chairman of Institute of Social Responsibility and Management Quality in Korea ; Jack Perkowski, CEO of Green 4U Technologies, founder and executive partner of JFP Holdings Ltd; Zu-kang Sha, Career Diplomat, former Secretary-General of UN Department of Economics and Social Affairs, former Director-General of the Department of Arms Control and Disarmament; James M.
